Gwyneth Paltrow


Gwyneth Paltrow is an American actress born on 27 September 1972 in Los Angeles, California to parents Blythe Danner and Bruce Paltrow. Her mother is an actress and father is a film and television director and producer. She attended Crossroads School and later the Spence School, in New York City. She enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara but dropped out to pursue a career in acting.

She made her professional debut on stage in 1990 and later next year her first film "Shout" was released. She went on to work in few more movies but her first break came with the movie "Seven" which was a commercial success and got good reviews from the critics for her performance. She also earned the Satellite Award nomination for her work in the film. Her portrayal of the character Emma Woodhouse in the movie "Emma" led her to the most important role of her career in "Shakespeare in Love".

She gained her critical acclaim with the portrayal in the movie "Shakespeare in Love" that earned more than US$100 million at the box office in the United States. It also won her the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role from the Screen Actors Guild and the Academy Award for the Best Actress.

After wining the Oscar though her work was less noteworthy. She appeared in the movie "Proof" in 2005. It was based on a play of the same name in which Paltrow had played the same role at London's Donmar Warehouse in 2002 for which she was nominated for a London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Actress.

She also had her debut in singing with the film "Duets". The song "Cruisin" was released as a single and was well received. She also went on to sing few more songs like "Bette Davis Eyes" that reached number three and "What is this Thing Called Love" in the film "Infamous".

She is the ambassador for Save the Children. She is also the board member of the Robin Hood Foundation that work towards alleviating poverty in New York City.

Paltrow is also the face of Estée Lauder's Pleasures perfume. They donate from their sales a minimum of $500,000 for breast cancer research. She also became the face of a Korean fashion brand called "Bean Pole International" and more talent with gwyneth paltrow
